What kind of food does Café Atlántico serve? What is Nuevo Latino cuisine?
Café Atlántico serves contemporary signature cuisine and is inspired by the “Nuevo Latino” style. The kitchen has its roots in the cooking traditions of Latin America but the menu also displays the playfulness and innovation you would expect from the home of minibar. Highlights include tuna and coconut ceviche, scallops with coconut rice and foie gras soup.

Does Café Atlántico accept reservations?
Reservations are not required but are recommended. To make a reservation, please call (202) 393-0812. You can also reserve a table online through Open Table at our webpage www.cafeatlantico.com/reservations. (Please note: If you can not get the reservation you are looking for through Open Table we recommend that you call the restaurant directly.)

What is the minibar?
minibar by josé andrés is a six seat restaurant within a restaurant located on the second floor of Café Atlántico. The innovative tasting menu features 26-30 of José's most imaginative creations. This is food that owes as much to art and science as it does to gastronomy, food that is as much about the brain and eye as it is about the tongue and stomach, food that forces the diner to rethink food and its presentation.

Do I need a reservation for minibar? How far in advance can I book minibar?
minibar is by reservation only. minibar reservations are made available one month in advance. Please see our companion minibar website for more information on making a reservation at minibar. (The link is on the upper left hand corner of the Café Atlantico homepage)

What are the hours for minibar? What are the seatings for minibar? How many people at each seating?
minibar is open Tuesday through Saturday. We offer two seatings per night, one at 6 pm and one at 8:30 pm, a total of six diners per seating.

There are more than six of us that want to eat at minibar together. Can’t you just add another chair?
Sorry. Space is rather limited and minibar can only accommodate six guests at a time. Café Atlantico is able to accommodate larger parties and Chef Katsuya does offer an outstanding tasting menu on the Café Atlantico menu.

minibar is priced at $120 per person. Wine, tax and gratuity are not included.

minibar’s menu is a tasting menu and is meant to be enjoyed a complete experience. The items are not available a la carte.

What is Latino Dim Sum?
Latino Dim Sum is Café Atlántico’s spin on the Chinese traditional family-style brunch. The small dishes offered have a Latin accent. Highlights from the dim sum menu include cauliflower-quinoa “cous-cous”, huitlacoche & wild mushroom quesadilla, seared cigala with vanilla oil, fried eggs with black beans & pork, potato & vanilla mousse with American caviar and pan dulce with cinnamon syrup.

How much is Latino Dim Sum? What if I don’t eat meat? Do I have to get the whole dim sum menu or can I order a la carte?
You can elect to either do one of our two dim sum tasting menus or order ala carte. The chef's dim sum tasting menu (14 dishes) is available for $34.95. A vegetarian dim sum tasting menu (12 dishes) is priced at $24.95 per person. Individual items may be ordered a la carte and are priced between $2.00-$8.00.

When are you open? What are your hours?
NEW HOURS OF OPERATION! CAFÉ ATLANTICO IS CLOSED ON MONDAYS FOR PRIVATE EVENTS AND MENU DEVELOPMENT. We are open for lunch Tuesday through Friday from 11:30 to 2:30. Latino Dim Sum Brunch is served Saturday and Sunday from 11:30 to 2:30 although the last seating for the chef’s dim sum tasting menus is 1:30. We are open for dinner Tuesday through Thursday from 5:00 to 10:00, Friday and Saturday from 5:00 to 11:00, and Sunday from 5:00 to 10:00

Café Atlántico is located one block from the Archives/Naval Memorial station on the Green and Yellow lines. We are two blocks from the Gallery Place stop on the Red line.

Café Atlántico is the perfect venue for your next event, large or small. While we don’t offer a banquet room, the unique layout of Café Atlántico’s dining room allows for exceptional privacy. Spread out over three floors, our dining room features a number of cozy corners and nooks that can accommodate your party in seclusion.

Can I bring my own wine? Does Café Atlántico have a corkage fee?
Café Atlántico offers an award winning wine list that is sure to accommodate all tastes and wallets. Our sommelier Jill Zimorski would be glad to help you with selecting the perfect wine from our list to accompany your meal. If, however, you do have a special bottle of wine you want to enjoy with your meal and do prefer to bring your own, you are welcome to do so. Please note we will assess a corkage fee of $20.

Can I bring a birthday cake?
We offer an excellent selection of house made desserts that can all be served with a birthday candle. If you prefer, much like bringing your own wine, you are welcome to bring your own cake for a special occasion. Please be advised that there is a $2.50 cake plating fee per person (think of it as a "dessert corkage fee".)

The menu at Café Atlántico is varied and provides diners with a wide array of choices to meet the needs of vegetarians, vegans, people who don't eat shellfish, etc. We always strive to make reasonable accommodations for our guests' dietary needs or restrictions. Ask your host or server for our special menu which notes dishes suitable for guests suffering many common food allergies and gluten free items. Your server also has thorough knowledge of Café Atlántico’s menu and can help you identify choices that work for you.
In the case of potentially life-threatening food allergies or other serious health issues, your best bet is to call Café Atlántico in advance and explain your situation. Speak to the manager or chef. They'll be happy to work with you and help you make appropriate selections or make special arrangements if necessary.
